VISA TO KAZAKHSTAN - WHAT FOR, HOW and WHERE
The entry visas are issued at Kazakhstan Embassy/Consulate in country and based on a support letter (invitation letter) from a individual or organization in Kazakhstan. And the bases (for issuing visa of the Republic of Kazakhstan) are applications to the Department of Consular Service (DCS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MFA) in Astana or its representation in the city of Almaty.

A VISA - WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT?
VISA is a form of permission for a non-citizen to travel to, enter, transit or remain in a particular country. The need or absence of need of a visa generally depends on the citizenship of the applicant, the intended duration of the stay, and the activities that the applicant may wish to undertake in the country he visits; these may delineate different formal categories of visas, with different issue conditions.
VISA contains the following information: name, surname, birth date, country of citizenship, number of passport, date of visa issue, term of stay in Republic Kazakhstan, the invitation number, the purpose of a visiting, the name of the inviting organization, the visa type.
TYPES OF VISA: one-entry visa, double-entry visa, triple entry and multiple visa. The one-entry visa be used to go in and out of Republic Kazakhstan only once. The double-entry visa may be used to go in and out of Republic Kazakhstan twice. A multiple entry visa may be used to go in and out of Republic Kazakhstan an unlimited number of times until its expiration date. See different visa categories here.

I. To obtain a VISA INVITATION to Kazakhstan
First. You should, define what kind of the visa suitable for you - tourist or business.
For example: Tourist visas are issued for a period of stay no longer than 1 month. The prolongation of tourist visa validity period is impossible. Business visas give you a possibility of a longer stay and a multiple entry.
Second. Find a legal entity, which will issue for you a corresponding visa invitation via MFA.
Third. Prepare all required documents to order your visa invitation.
For getting visa invitation it is necessary to provide the following information: Name, surname, sex, date and place of birth, passport number (with passport issue and expiry date), country of citizenship, nationality, the address of residence, work place and position, place where a visa will be apply, period of stay in Kazakhstan, Number of entries in Kazakhstan, address of residing in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan cities to be visited, visiting purposes (tourism or business), trip way (avia or auto).
II. To acquire a VISA in the Kazakhstan Embassy/Consulate
This procedure contains following steps:
First. Visit the Consulate within its business hours and submit a package of documents required for a visa application. Apply to Kazakh Consulate the country where you wish to apply for a visa, and find out the exact requirements and conditions of acquiring a visa. The invited foreign citizen may contact the Consulate independently, or turn to a visa agency for assistance.
Second. Obtain your visa. While getting your papers back make sure to verify all the data to avoid mistakes. If you notice a mistake made by the Consulate, show it immediately to the visa inspector. The Consulate is not responsible for the mistakes, made by the inviting organization or the applicant himself.
List of documents to apply for visa in Kazakhstan Embassy/Consulate:
1) Passport (passport validity must extend at least three (3) months beyond the length of proposed stay in Kazakhstan). 2) One 4 cm x 5 cm size photograph. 3) A photocopy of a visa approval with a copy of invitation letter with a notification of a number of visa support of the DCS of the MFA (or original of an individual invitation issued by the Police) 4) Pay the fee for consular services 5) Application form, completed and signed (please, download here).
The amount of the fee for consular services:
- One-entry visa for the term of less than 3 months - $60
- Double entry visa for the term of less than 3 months $ 90;
- Triple entry visa for the term of less than 3 months - $ 105;
- Multiple visas for the term of 1 year - $ 200;
- Tourist one-entry visa for less than 30 days – $ 40;
- Tourist double-entry visa for less than 60 days - $ 60;
- Transit visa – USD 20.
- Double entry visa for the term of less than 3 months $ 90;
- Triple entry visa for the term of less than 3 months - $ 105;
- Multiple visas for the term of 1 year - $ 200;
- Tourist one-entry visa for less than 30 days – $ 40;
- Tourist double-entry visa for less than 60 days - $ 60;
- Transit visa – USD 20.
III. Register VISA when arrive to Republic of Kazakhstan
Registration of foreign citizens at the Police should be done within 5 days after their arrival into Kazakhstan. It is also possible to obtain registration at the local police. Registration is done free of charge.
The following countries (with single entry official, private, tourist, business visa) do not need
VISA INVITATION:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, Germany, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Singapore, USA, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, France, Republic of Korea.
The following countries (with tourists and with business purposes) do not need a PERMIT from the internal affairs bodies for invitation:
Australia, Austria, Andorra, Argentine, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Vatican, the Great Britain, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Cyprus, the Republic of Korea, Costa-Rika, Cube, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Nauru, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San-Marine, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, the USA, Turkey, Uruguay, Czech, Chili, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, France, BRD, Estonia, South African Republic (SAR), Jamaica, Japan
Nationals of the following countries can get registration, while receiving their visas at the Kazakhstan Consulates abroad, or can get registration while crossing border checkpoints at 12 international airports of Kazakhstan: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Italy, Ireland, Iceland, Germany, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Singapore, USA, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, France and Republic of Korea
The following countries do not need entry visa to visit Kazakhstan: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Byelorussia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
